Remembering Leonard Kent, former president and professor

A message from President John L. Lahey:

Leonard Kent

All of us in the Quinnipiac University community were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Leonard Kent, former president of Quinnipiac and long-time member of the English department. Dr. Kent served as president from 1971 to 1977 and served on the faculty for 38 years, retiring as a full professor emeritus. Following his presidency, he returned to his greatest love, full-time teaching, where he inspired generations of Quinnipiac students.

As president, he saw the college through some very challenging times, and when I became president, he immediately became one of my closest advisers and confidantes. His friendship was priceless. His wit, wisdom and intellect were extraordinary, and he will be sorely missed by so many members of our community.

Please join me in extending sincere condolences to all of Lenny’s family, particularly his wife Valerie, who also served Quinnipiac in the public relations office for 26 years. Our thoughts go out to them.

Funeral arrangements were private.

Those who wish to do so may leave a message of condolence on the website, www.aldersonfuneralhomes.com.
