University to host panel discussions on political, social and economic issues in Turkey

Quinnipiac University will host two panel discussions on Turkey on Monday, April 30 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. in the Mancheski Executive Seminar Room in the Lender School of Business Center on the Mount Carmel Campus.

The first panel will focus on contemporary political and social issues in Turkey. It will feature Hasan T. Arslan, professor of criminal justice and sociology at Western New England University; Arzu Kaya-Uranli, a TV personality and a columnist for the Weekly Zaman Newspaper of Turkey and Aydoğan Vatandaş, an investigative journalist from Turkey.

The second panel will focus on the state of Turkish economy and its place in the globalized world.  Resul Cesur, professor of finance and healthcare management at University of Connecticut; Mohammad Elahee, professor of international business at Quinnipiac; and Osman Kilic, professor of finance at Quinnipiac, will be the panelists.

Robert Engle and Chadwick Nehrt, professors of international business at Quinnipiac, will serve as panel moderators.
