‘Bobcats Unleashed’ nominated for Boston/New England Emmy award

“Quinnipiac University Bobcats Unleashed” was nominated for a 35th annual Boston/New England Emmy award.

This is the second consecutive year the University-produced program was nominated for the prestigious, peer-judged honor.

“Being nominated for the second year in a row shows not only that we produce a quality show, but we do it on a consistent basis,” Peter Sumby, associate director of the Ed McMahon Communications Center and director/producer of the series, said. “The great thing is that it is a true team effort among the Athletics Department, the School of Communications, the Office of Public Affairs, and, most importantly, the more than 20 students who participate in the production.”

The students are: Jeff Abrahams, Chelsea Adamchak, Jacob Brichta, Christina Casinelli, Lisa Copland, Orrin Creighton, Eliza Dox, Tom Frisina, Rob Gagne, Amy Gardner, Kyle Gravitte, Austin Hopkins, John Houston, Josh Lavallee, Jessica Lehman, Ryan Meunier, Alyssa Meyer, Sunny Nariyani, Ryan O’Grady, Matt Pereira, Mike Prado, Sam Snow-Cronin and Sarah Violette.

“This gives these students the opportunity to work on a quality program and build their resume’s before graduation,” Sumby said. “The real appeal of the show are the hosts, Billy Mecca, senior associate director of athletics; Jayme Parker and Bill Schweizer, media coordinator. They consistently deliver compelling stories on the challenges and achievements of our student–athletes, coaches and administration of a Division I University.”

Mike Schleif, media production specialist, designed teh graphics and animations and Lani Asuncion, media production specialist, helped edit the episode.

The fall, 2011 episode was nominated for Outstanding Sports One-Time Special.

The winner will be announced on June 2 in Boston.
