Professor Rich Hanley available to discuss Journal Register Company filing for bankruptcy

Rich Hanley, associate professor and director of the graduate journalism program in the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University, is available to discuss the Journal-Register Company filing for bankruptcy.

“The Journal-Register Company is deploying bankruptcy as a tool to clear away the debt and debris of the collapse of the age of print to make itself more appealing to suitors as a digital-only company,” Hanley said. “The company is shedding debt, future liabilities, property and other assets to make it more competitive in online news where costs need to be calibrated to greatly reduced revenues. This is like a tear-down house that will be replaced ironically by one that is much smaller and more adaptable to circumstances that in the digital age change rapidly and often without warning.”

To speak with Hanley, please email rich.hanley@quinnipiac.edu.

  1. Bankruptcy can help businesses that need to restructure things to get moving again especially if the company has good economic value to the local area and community. For information on filing bankruptcy chapter 7 or 13 click here
