Lisa Burns, professor in the School of Communications, was quoted extensively in media across the United States throughout the past week about the power and influence first ladies have to help their husbands win political office.

Among the highlights:

  • Burns shared her knowledge about how the media covers first ladies with FOX News Radio on Sept. 6. She was interviewed by the following affiliates: KURV, of McAllen, TX; WOC, of Davenport, IA; WHAS, of Louisville, KY; WERC, of Birmingham, AL; WHJJ, of Providence, RI; and WNRP, of Pensacola, FL.
  • Burns offered her insight into the first lady’s speech on WTIC-AM and WNPR-FM on Sept. 5.
  • Burns was quoted prominently on CNN.com about the the purpose of the first lady’s speech on Sept. 5.
