Dean, School of Communications
In 1979, I was sent to Washington, D.C. to be the reporter for a small television station in Wyoming. I was what they called a one-man band. I had a camera, a set of lights, and a tripod, and I roamed the city shooting interviews with members of Congress and government officials, doing stories of interest to the West.

Soon after arriving in the Capitol, I met a guy named Charlie Gibson, who was the congressional correspondent for ABC News. He knew I was alone trying to navigate the labyrinth of the federal government, and whenever he could, he would slip me wire copy on a story just to make sure I didn’t miss it.
I look forward to his visit to our Mount Carmel Campus on Thursday, Sept. 20.
