Professor Rich Hanley available to speak about Gmail in relation to the Petraeus affair

On Nov. 9, David H. Petraeus resigned his position as director of the CIA following the reveal of an extramarital affair.

The affair was discovered following an FBI investigation into a potential security breach involving Petraeus’s personal Gmail account.

Gen. John R. Allen is now also under investigation for his questionable communications with the woman whose complaint to the F.B.I. set off the scandal involving Patraeus.

Rich Hanley, who directs the graduate journalism program in the School of Communications, is available to comment.

Hanley explains, “The generals and their girlfriends gave each other the account names and passwords and used the drafts function to read emails so they wouldn’t be sent. But drafts are stored in the drafts folder unless manually deleted.”

To speak to Hanley, please call John Morgan, associate vice president for public relations, at 203-206-4449.
