Angela Mattie, associate professor of management and chair of health care management and organizational leadership in the School of Business, was quoted in the Hartford Business Journal about hospital mergers in Connecticut.
Eastern Connecticut Health Network may be the next merger in the state’s health care industry.
One of the biggest hurdles that hospitals face in getting a deal done is merging their cultures, Mattie told the news organization.
“The business deals are easy,” she said. “The greatest complexity is having the awareness of different cultures that exist within the organizations. That can make or break a deal.”
