David Cadden, a professor of management in the Entrepreneurship and Strategy Department in the School of Business at Quinnipiac University, was featured on WFSB-TV, Channel 3 about the pros and cons of tax-free week in Connecticut.
“The actual impact of Connecticut’s tax-free week is pretty small because it is limited to clothes and shoes under $300,” Cadden said. “The prospective savings is limited, too. Even with back-to-school shopping for a minivan full of children, there is only so much a family can save.”
Cadden said he thinks Connecticut politicians would benefit from a tax holiday like Massachusetts, where almost everything is exempt up to $2,500, generating $500 million in additional sales — instead of a tax-free week.
