Sociology instructor offers insight on law intended to prevent racial profiling

Don Sawyer, an instructor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Quinnipiac University, offered insight on more extensive data collection to ensure police are not racially profiling drivers as part of an NBC Connecticut story.

“I think that’s important to ensure that people’s civil liberties are not being violated and so if it takes police officers filling out a couple more questions I think that is more beneficial then to have people detained or treated unfairly based on their physical representations,” said Sawyer.
