Mark Gius, professor of economics in the School of Business at Quinnipiac University, published an article on the details of his gun research on the London School of Economics and Political Science blog.
Gius’ research focuses on the calls to renew the Federal Assault Weapons Ban and to enact concealed carry laws. As part of his research, he examined the effects of these types of restrictions on the gun-related murder rate. He found that the assault weapons ban had no significant effect on state-level murder rates and that states with restrictive concealed carry laws actually had higher murder rates than their counterparts with less restrictive laws.
