QUINN’teresting to you (we hope)… new student space coming

This wide shot shows the three main features of the first-floor space: a Media Technology Center (left), a Critical Analysis Lab (center, far end) and a Media Innovation Lab (right). A master control room will serve each space and allow for coverage and live shots throughout the CCE first floor. A Media Technology Center would likely feature pod-style work stations and a location from which live reports can be presented.

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then “excited” is a word we are using a lot to describe our reaction to the just released architects’ rendering of our new School of Communications home. While still in the planning stage, new and improved spaces ARE coming to the Center for Communications & Engineering (CCE; the old Law School).

“Wow!” is another word we are using when we see the vision and plans for the reworking of our space. The upgraded facilities will finalize our move from the Lender School of Business building to our own space here in CCE. An exact timeline for the renovations has not yet been established but plans are to do some, most or even all of the work in time for students to start bringing these pictures to life next fall.

A Critical Analysis Lab could be home to real-time social media analytic work and social media news gathering.

A Media Innovation Lab would provide space for lots of collaboration possibilities with campus colleagues and for inter-disciplinary work with our friends downstairs in the School of Engineering.
